Starting with a review of the pool plans, we will conduct a site assessment, check access points and confirm timelines. Where necessary, we advise on any structural issues or challenges and ensure that every detail has been considered before our team arrives on site.

Once excavation has been completed, A1 Shotcrete takes control of the next phase. The installation of precision shuttering and steel work creates the framework for the overall size, shape and depth of the pool. This reinforcement provides structural integrity, maximum strength and load-bearing capacity. Once this stage is complete and signed off, our shotcrete team takes over. Concrete is sprayed at high velocity directly onto the prepared reinforced surface. The shotcrete compacts immediately to produce a strong and durable finish – walls and features such as steps are quickly and accurately formed. Final touches, such as smoothing surfaces, are then completed in preparation for the next stage of construction.

We conduct our own quality control procedures to ensure the shotcrete is correctly cured to achieve its full strength. Once all aspects of the shell have been inspected, the next stage of construction – rendering, tanking and tiling – can go ahead.

Ours is a tried and tested process. The use of shotcrete makes pool construction faster and more cost-efficient than traditional construction methods – from an excavated hole in the ground, a swimming pool can take shape in as little as three days, depending on size and complexity.

We create pools of all shapes and sizes

Infinity pools

Where luxury blends with the landscape, an infinity pool has a real wow factor. Clever design and engineering create the illusion of an endless body of water that disappears into the distance.

Deck level pools

A sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing style of pool, where the water is at the same level as the surrounding deck. Surface level water flows over the coping stone surround into a gully or channel. A balance tank is incorporated into the design to maintain the water level, filter, treat and return water to the pool.

Skimmer pools

Simple and functional, in-built skimmers in the pool wall draw water and debris from the surface to keep the pool clean. Skimmer pools remove the need for a balance tank, which makes installation cost-effective.

Freeform pools

Making the most of the space in which they’re located, every freeform pool is unique. From simple curves to more unusual designs, these beautiful and aesthetically pleasing pools create a natural flow and make a real statement.

Spa & plunge pools

A plunge pool is the perfect solution when space is limited but a pool is a must. For the ultimate in relaxation, choose a spa pool. Effortlessly integrated into your swimming pool structure or the surrounding area, it provides a serene retreat.

Moving floor pools

With an intelligent moving floor system, you can choose when to open up the pool and when to utilise a terrace for entertaining guests. A moving floor pool is the ultimate in integrating a swimming pool into outdoor space.

Here's how we do it

Case studies

Infinity pool, Cheltenham

We are proud to have been involved in one of the largest residential swimming pools ever built in the UK. The shell of this 230m2 infinity pool was completed in just four days.

Railway platform, Leigh-on-Sea

An ongoing project at Leigh-on-Sea railway station to return its ageing platforms to full strength. These specialist reinforcement works are being carried out over the course of several weekends by teams operating in shifts.

Waterproofing, Aberdeen

A complex tanking and structural brief that required waterproofing and reinforcement over 1000m2 of contiguous piled walls, enabling the redevelopment of a historic building into modern residential accommodation.
