Infinity pool, Cheltenham

As part of the renovation and restoration of a Grade II listed country house and extensive landscaping works to the property’s gardens and parkland, this is one of the largest domestic swimming pools ever built in the UK.

The 230m2 infinity pool includes a 45m2 plant room to accommodate all the mechanics of the pool, and was designed to blend effortlessly with the surroundings, part of a conservation area and designated as a Cotswold Area of Outstanding Beauty.

A1 Shotcrete was responsible for creating the pool shell. Built on 61 piled foundations, the rebar projected into ground beams with a 300mm sub-base. The sub-base was cast on clay board, which would allow for any soil expansion without exerting pressure on the pool structure above.

In just four days, 140 cubic metres of sprayed concrete were applied, cured and the pool shell completed.
